scarce first appearance, clandestine publication issued for private circulation only, mimeographed printing of the banned novella. The story caused a storm of controversy and the Russian censors forbade the publication of this novella in 1889 and at least three mimeographed versions of the book immediately circulated. Not in Fekula.
